We should repent of our sins. We may have committed great or small sins. There is no sin that can cause us to be damned if we repent of it. We may be the worst of sinners but the Lord is gracious and full of redemptive kindnesses. It is by His kindnesses that we are forgiven. It does not matter what you have done because Jesus loves us and forgives us. We could have committed the list of accusations of great and extraordinary sins but He never casts out anyone who comes to Him. After all we have done and where we have been, He forgives and He is compassionate to us. He shines His smiling face upon us. God calls us sons in Jesus' name. Let us look at some of the verses in Revelation on repentance. Remember repentance does not damn us but only sin damns. God damns through sin but God grants repentance unto remission. I think we live in a world of cruelty that forbids repentance because people want to perish by nature. Let us not perish but repent and believe the gospel.
Revelation 2:5
Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
We should repent of all our sins. Remember when you were converted and did great works of zeal? We repented consistently and missed no sin before a holy God. We have fallen into sin but we can repent.
Revelation 2:16
Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
God chastens His people through consequences but we are called to repentance. Sometimes God will let the consequences come no matter if we repent or not. We should repent of all our sins. Here are other verses from the book of Revelation:
Revelation 2:21
And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
Revelation 2:22
Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
Revelation 3:3
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Revelation 9:20
And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented
not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils,
and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which
neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
Revelation 9:21
Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
Revelation 16:9
And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory
Revelation 16:11
And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.
This blog web site is for the in-depth, sound and basic exegetical study of the Bible in Reformed apologetics; that is, I shall expound upon the inerrant and infallible Word of God, the Holy Scriptures. There shall be biblical studies in world religions and non-Christian cults. I also quote and research reformed writers and I am happy to study from them. May the Lord bless everyone who reads this blog with spiritual riches in Christ which is His imputed merit by faith alone.
The Son of Man came to seek and save that which was lost. It is Jesus' favorite title of Himself. I chosen this title because Jesus loved this title of Himself. We ought to never forget that Jesus is fully God and fully man: two natures in One Person. He is the God-man, the Incarnate Second Person of the Trinity. May we mediate on His life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension that we may be conformed to the image of the divine Son of Man! This blog web site will be a Christian defense of the Reformed doctrines of the Incarnate Son of Man. May all glory be to His name!
